Singing Grace

Singing Grace
I like to sing. I like music. I like to listen to music with and without lyrics. I like to sing with or without instrumentation. Music is a big part of who I am and who God made me. But have you ever just turned the “music” off and listened to God..."singing grace?"
You know...that time either first thing in the morning or in the evening when the hustle and bustle of life has either not started or stopped? When you can just sit or lie in a special place and listen to God... singing grace? Through the mountain stream or the crashing waves of the ocean. Through the chirping birds or the whisper of the wind chimes. Through the chorus of frogs or the stillness of a lapping river....all around us grace. Free and abundant....grace.
But..hurry makes us hurt. Instead of listening, we push forward to move on to our next task...you know the laundry piling up, the dishes needing to be washed, the floors that are covered in pet hair, the latest status update on Facebook, and oh, let's not forget that next level of Candy Crush. But all the while God is singing...grace.
Ann Voskamp says in her book One Thousand Gifts – Devotional, “Slow never killed time. It's the rushing and racing, the trying to catch up, this is what kills time – ourselves. Life is NOT an emergency.”
God tells us in His Word to be still...on several occasions. But He also gives us the choice to decide whether or not we want to hear His grace singing. And then He says to us...”You can only hear your life sing...when you're still.”

Psalm 37:7a
“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.....”

Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Looking forward to being still with you!
Donna
